• Portraits II
I am interested in exploring, through portraiture, the impact of contemporary social, cultural and political themes on one's behavior. In its simplest form, I think portraiture reflects appearance with little insight into identity. Looks, so often fused with the concept of fashion or method or approach, actually mask the reality of “self” which is revealed only experientially. To be meaningful, portraiture must be a visual construction built principally on experience and, at its best, not a function of conscious expression or other embellishments. My efforts are to make/build that visual construction.
